Back in 2011, we talked to the Rhode Island band, Brown Bird. The duo, Dave Lamb and MorganEve Swain, had just taken the Newport Folk Festival by storm. They got married and became a fixture in a growing group of musically restless, lyrically honest songwriters.
Last year, Brown Bird’s community of devoted fans mourned. Dave Lamb had leukemia, and died in April 2014. Throughout the illness, Lamb and Swain had been at work on a new album. Despite losing her partner in music and in life, MorganEve Swain decided to finish the record. It’s called “Axis Mundi.”
